Buffalo is through the roughest part of their schedule, facing Liberty (4-2), Temple (4-1), and Penn State (5-0) out of conference and the two favorites to win the east in conference when they went up against Miami University and Ohio.
Things could have went better.
Against Miami there were four turnovers, against Ohio there were two missed FG’s and an extra point.
So instead of sitting pretty at 4-2, or being in good position at 3-3... Lance Leipold’s team has dug themselves a nice little hole at 2-4.
All that being said, there is some hope for this team to bounce back in the balk half of the schedule, and it starts this week against Akron.
The Bulls need to win four more games for a good shot at a bowl this year, three would get them to eligible but as 2017 taught us “6-6, and $2.50 will buy you a beer while you watch other teams bowl”
Akron is having a rough go of it. They are 0-6 on the year, including a loss to UMass, who many considered to be the worst team in the Bowl subdivision.
If Buffalo’s going to make a run, it needs to start now.
