Buffalo Bulls Hockey Gets ready for the second half of the season

With football over and Basketball competently covered by Mike and Johnathan some of us at Bull Run get to turn our attention back to hockey!

November was a special month for UB Football and playing in December is indeed a rare thing for the blue and white on the gridiron. Success of any kind is to be savored for football but on the ice UB's ACHA hockey team has enjoyed winning ways for years.

Last season the Bulls won the NECHL title in a fantastic double overtime game against Niagara. The Bulls lost a lot of Talent and the Purp's were a young team so there was a feeling that perhaps Niagara, who was undefeated in regular seasons league play last season, would roll the league this year.

Buffalo has proven that beneath last years senior leadership they had amazing depth. So far thsi season the Bulls are ranked #20 among the ACHA's D1 clubs and is undefeated in NECHL play, including a 3-2 win over Niagara.

UB is led by  Mike Schalberg and Brenden Robinson. The Junior Duo have each put up more than 40 points and Schalberg's had an assist in the game winning goal against Niagara. Last season the games between UB and Niagara determined both the NECHL's representative in the Nationals (Niagara via the regular season sweep) and the NECHL title (Buffalo in the tournament).

The Bulls are now in the middle of the winter break but Buffalo's season restarts January 10th at home against IUP. Buffalo's home rink is the North Towns center (across from campus). Admission is free to UB students and $5.00 for non students. Out of town fans can listen on WRUB and if you want to watch the game it costs about $8.00 through "Fast Hockey"
