UB Wrestling recruit Matt Seitz "not wrestling with his future"
Nice piece on the incoming freshman for John Stutzman.
"Seitz closed out a sterling four-year high school career with a 29-3 season and 124 career wins which left him, in many people's eyes, with a legacy of being one of the best ever on Staten Island, if not the best.
Then he traveled to Virginia Beach last weekend to compete in the NHSCA Senior Nationals Wrestling Championship and put an exclamation point on it. And, if there were still any doubters, they are all gone after Seitz's latest "outstanding performance."
All the 17-year-old did this time was post a 5-1 record which included defeating a state champion from North Carolina, and also statewide top place winners from Kansas, California and New Jersey.
That produced a third-place finish for the second straight year and earned him All-American status for the second straight year as well (last year in the Junior Division)."
Joe Ariola's first-round upset over Vic Avery named top upset of the NCAA Tournament so far
Avery was the third seed at 184 pounds and was a legitimate national title contender before Ariola beat him 7-5 yesterday. Joe would go on to lose to Wille Miklus of Missouri, but is still alive.
