Buffalo Bulls Women's Basketball Preview: Freshman guard Brittany Morrison

UB Athletics

The women don't get started until eight days after the men, but now we're just outside of a month for them and we start their preview with #32 Brittany Morrison, a freshman from North Ridgeville, OH.

The Basics

Number: 32
Year: Freshman
Position: Guard
Hometown: North Ridgeville, OH
Height: 5-9

New Girl?

Yes.

Before UB

Morrison filled up the stat sheet with her Cleveland-area St. Joseph Academy team, but flew under the radar from college coaches as she played a power forward role while standing only 5'9". Even so, she averaged 10 points and 12 boards a game as a junior and was one of Northeast Ohio's best rebounders.

I can't find her senior stats, but her team went 15-8 and from the writeups I can find it seems she upped her scoring a bit. In what I think was her final game in the district semifinals, she put up a double-double in the first 12 minutes before running into foul trouble and scoring "only" six points in the second half.

2015-16 Outlook

When I thought of Morrison as a forward I was confident of her seeing some time this year, because anyone who can even wear taller shoes and pretend to be a forward is going to play this year. But she's now listed on the roster as a guard. In the National Signing Day article from UB themselves, Coach Jack suggested that we'd see Brittany on the wing, and both she and 5'10" Kandance Satterwhite are freshmen coming in who I think bring a little more scoring to that role than the Ups sisters.

It's tough, though, to forecast anything on this team, with six freshmen and three sophomores who saw limited or no time last season. I promise I'm a little more confident in some of the Outlooks going forward.
