Silas is getting great press in the CFL

+

Silas was listed among the most impressive rookies in July. The University of Buffalo grad has started five games at right tackle for the best offence on the East Division. That was an important spot to fill after Colin Kelly performed well in 2015, which earned him a contract with the San Francisco 49ers.

ROOSEVELT A KEY PART OF REBUILD IN RIDERVILLE

+
"And, don’t look now, but Roosevelt’s 477 yards have him on pace to smash 1,000 yards receiving in just his second season with Canada’s Team. The 28-year old from Buffalo, NY probably would’ve hit 1,000 yards last year but didn’t get on the roster until Week 9 and he still wound up with 488 yards on a pitiful club.

Now, the Rider Store is selling #82 ROOSEVELT jerseys in all its locations, right beside the big boys of Durant and Bagg. That should mean that Roosevelt has officially arrived in Riderville.

"I just found out now, but thank you! That’s awesome!" Roosevelt laughed. "As a kid you see that when you’re buying jerseys and now to have that for yourself, and kids wanting to buy it, that’s humbling. It definitely feels good to have that. I just want to keep getting better and better and do anything to help this team out.""

Naaman Roosevelt on record-setting pace as a Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver

This is the first of two Naaman links in quick succession here.

"When anybody asks me about Naaman, I tell them that hands down he has the best ball skills that I’ve ever seen,’’ said receiver Nic Demski who, like Roosevelt, is a second-year Roughrider. "Every ball that is catchable in the air, and some that aren’t, he’s going to come down with it. That’s what separates him from other receivers.’’

Two more California recruits for Coach Peel

+
" University at Buffalo head softball coach Trena Peel has announced the addition of transfer Alyssa Cuevas and freshman Karlie Fernandez for the upcoming 2016-17 season. Both are natives of California.

Cuevas, who will be a sophomore this upcoming season, comes to the Bulls after playing her freshman season at St. Peters University. She played in 40 games for the Peacocks where she hit .220 with four doubles and one home run, which she hit on April 24 against Niagara. She was a four-year letterwinner at Bishop Alemany in Sylmar, CA where she helped her team to three Mission League titles and she was a first-team All-Mission League selection in 2015. Cuevas hit .391 during her senior year.

Fernandez attended both Norco High School and Santiago High School during her prep career in California, earning three letters and helping her Norco team to the 2015 CIF Division I Championship. That team went 27-8 during the year and ranked third in state."
