With only three games left in the Men's season, there's a manageable 27 possible results to filter down to the four-team MAC Tournament. The good news is Buffalo is in no matter what, and there's really no bad news, as UB was only in danger of falling to the fourth seed in a few scenarios all dependent on a WMU loss tonight, which didn't happen.
First, the current standings:
Men's Soccer | Akron | WMU | Buffalo | NIU | BG | WVU
Akron | 3-0-1 | D 1-1 | W 2-1 | W 4-0 | . 11/7 | W 2-0 | 10
Western Michigan | 2-1-1 | D 1-1 | . 11/7 | W 1-0 | W 2-1 | L 0-1 | 7
Buffalo | 2-1-1 | L 1-2 | @ 11/7 | D 1-1 | W 2-1 | W 2-0 | 7
Northern Illinois | 1-2-1 | L 0-4 | L 0-1 | D 1-1 | W 1-0 | @ 11/6 | 4
Bowling Green | 1-3-0 | @ 11/7 | L 1-2 | L 1-2 | L 0-1 | W 2-0 | 3
West Virginia | 1-3-0 | L 0-2 | W 1-0 | L 0-2 | . 11/6 | L 0-2 | 3 |
Some notes:
For the time being, WMU is ahead of Buffalo by virtue of a better result against the top seed (Akron; Draw vs Loss). That tiebreaker would remain unchanged if the two teams draw next Saturday.
Bowling Green is ahead of West Virginia on the basis of a head-to-head win.
