For the second straight year Buffalo is showing strengths at Tight End and people are recognizing it. Today it was announced that UB’s Mason Schreck had been named to the mid-season watch list for the annual John Mackey Award. The actual award is given out to the best Tight End in the nation every year.
Schreck has received playing time every year he’s been in Buffalo but is on pace for his best season yet. The Medina, Ohio native has 194 yards and a touchdown reception so far this season. Although those aren’t the best stats, they still make him one of the best receiving options that Buffalo has at the moment.
Semi-finalist and finalist announcements are scheduled for November 14 and November 22. Although unlikely at his current pace, being a finalist for the award would be something that Schreck’s predecessor Matt Weiser couldn’t do. The mid-season watch list honor has been given to only 30 tight ends in the entire nation.
