Game-by-game Buffalo Bulls schedule predictions

John Snyder

Five months ago we proudly told you that "It's never too early to make football season predictions" and put forward our first guesses towards UB Football's game-by-game results.

That day, we promised an update in August. It is now August.

The spring and summer, however, haven't come with much news. Lance Leipold is relatively tight-lipped at best, even to the point of not streaming the spring game. To be honest, we kind of like that.

It also means, though, that we don't have much reason to update our March predictions, reproduced here:

UMass W W

Tim: 6-6
Conrad: 9-3
Matt: 6-6
John: 10-2

I asked the rest of the group if they wanted to update their picks, and no one wanted to make any changes, which makes sense given the lack of new info, but also shows we're still feeling pretty good about Lance Leipold, as all of us are predicting an improvement and sticking to it.

If no one wants to make a change, what about the pick they're least confident in?

JOHN: "I think the only one I'd change is NIU to a loss"
TIM: "If I had to flip one game it would be Ohio because in a world where the Media Friendly Bobcats get fewer 1st place votes than UMass I suppose it's possible Ohio is weaker than I thought."
CONRAD: "Nevada is a tough one; they are coming off a UB 2013 type start, Arizona and TAMU only to travel all the way to Buffalo. So I'm still thinking that's a W but that's one I'd waver on. Maybe FAU; I'm not sure how well we've done in non conference on the road."
MATT: "I get the Frohnapfel hype, but UB's offense returns too much from scoring 41 on UMass last year, and I'd take the Bulls in a shootout with the Minutemen."

Not too surprising from the group; the two games that were 3-1 (UMass and NIU) saw John and I fall in step with each other, and the two 2-2 games (Ohio and Nevada) each caught a second look.

What do you think, with less than a month to the season? There's a poll here, but leave game-by-game predictions in the comments if you like. Stay tuned, as well, for the return of BRuWPeG - our weekly score prediction game. With the season less than a month away, everything's going to start heating up.
