46 days to kickoff: 2013 Bulls become bowl eligible

#46 UB Football Game

October 26, 2013 - UB 41, Kent State 21

The 5-2 (3-0) Bulls looked to become bowl eligible for the second time in FBS history. To do so, they would have to defeat the defending MAC East champs in their building. The Bulls put together a near perfect game and stayed perfect in MAC play.

UB struck first with an 80-yard drive. Joe Licata hit four different receivers for 63 yards culminating in an 8-yard Alex Neutz TD reception. After a Kent TD, UB responded with a 49-yard pass from Licata to Neutz which set up a 5-yard Branden Oliver run and a 13-7 UB lead.

As usual, Khalil Mack turned a tight game into a laugher. With Kent in the red zone, Mack intercepted Colin Reardon at the 9 and returned it to the Kent 46-yard line with 37 seconds remaining in the half. Licata found Devin Campbell for a 29-yard reception and Branden Oliver sent Kent State defenders airborne while rumbling 17-yards downhill for the score 8 seconds before halftime.

BO opened the scoring in the 3rd with a 38-yard run to give UB a 27-7 lead. Oliver ended the day with 185 yards on 31 runs and he would score again to end the day with 4 TDs, tied 3rd for most rushing TDs in a game in UB history. Licata went 20-for-31 for 285 yards with 2 TDs, throwing the games final TD to Devon Hughes. Khalil Mack and Cortney Lester had interceptions that set up UB touchdowns.

With the win, UB moved to 6-2 became bowl eligible and remained in control of their destiny for the 2013 MAC East title.
