JUCO prospect Andre Allen commits to Buffalo

NCAA Basketball: NCAA Tournament-Second Round-Buffalo vs Kentucky Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Nate Oats and his staff are well on their way to filling some big shoes for the 2019-20 UB Basketball season as multiple reports have JUCO prospect Andre Allen committed to the Bulls.

Allen, a 6-9 forward, has spent the last year at Arizona Western Community College, where he raked in 10.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

Not much can be found on the LA native, but he’s described as a versatile player by multiple basketball scouts and his end-of-year stats showed a big jump in explosiveness and three-point shooting. Three of his final 10 games last season also saw 18 or more points of scoring.

Allen will likely join the Bulls next season as it’s probably too late to enroll him at UB and redshirt him. Even if he were to do that, he would need to pay his way through a year of school since UB already has 13 allocated scholarships.

We’ll see how it pans out, but Nate Oats already has an exceptional track record with JUCO forwards. David Kadiri was a huge asset by the time his senior year came around and Montell McRae provided solid depth in last year’s campaign.
