Toledo Rockets at Buffalo Bulls Men's Basketball Recap: Offense dries up late as Toledo ekes out the win

UB Athletics

The great strength of UB's current position in the MAC standings is that the Bulls have risen to the top of the conference while amassing road wins and clinching tiebreakers against many of the other contenders.

Tonight, the script was flipped in a 71-69 home loss to Toledo. The rockets were lead by Jonathan Williams and his total of 15 points.

Buffalo was dealt a blow before the opening tip, as sophomore point guard Lamonte Bearden missed the game to a suspension for conduct detrimental to the team. He had scored 16 in UB's earlier win against the Rockets.

The Bulls lead for most of the game in nearly every statistical category. Unfortunately, they were crushed in the rebounding department as Toledo had the advantage 41-30. After the five minute mark, Buffalo's offense dried up and Toledo took over. The Rockets eventually won the game thanks to a Jonathan Williams Layup.

The Bulls were lead by the freshman tonight as Nick Perkins and CJ Massinburg grabbed 17 and 12 points respectively.

We'll have more on this game tomorrow, and in the comments, of course.

The Bulls remain home for the final in a three-game homestand against Ohio. Though the Bobcats are on the fringe of the bye conversation now, two remaining games against UB and a relatively easy schedule for the next two weeks could help them make a surge.
