Buffalo Bulls Men's Basketball Preview: Junior swingman Blake Hamilton

UB Athletics

Hamilton, wearing 0, is the last to be previewed, but will likely join Willie Conner as a JUCO guy paying immediate dividends

The Basics

Number: 0
Year: Junior
Position: 'Wing'
Hometown: Pasadena, CA
Height and Weight: 6-6, 205

New Guy?

Yes. Hamilton committed in May

Before UB

Hamilton comes to UB after stops at Northern Arizona (who gave us Zach Filzen) and Mt. San Antonio College in California. During that second year Blake averaged 13 points and 6 rebounds while shooting over 60% from the floor. At Pasadena High School he was good for a double double as a senior.

Buffalo Bulls Men's Basketball: Open Practice Observations - Bull Run
I was concerned last night during Bulls Madness about his shooting but today looked much better. Hamilton may very well be our sixth man. He has a great post presence along with an outside shooting presence. I could very well see him sub for Wigginton often.

2015-16 Outlook

Hamilton's probably not a starter, but it seems that he'll play quite a bit. He's been a great shooter everywhere he's gone, has size to overload perimeter defenders, and apparently a decent post game when asked to work inside. With the right savvy, a good amount of strength, and good timing, 6-6 can get things done in the post in the MAC.

I've referenced in other posts uncertainty towards how deep Oats' bench will run, but even if he follows last year's lead and only runs eight or nine guys per game, I expect Hamilton to be in that group.
