At best, tonight was a chance for Bulls fans to better learn the new faces on the team and for the coaching staff to see more of the bench in game actions. Against lower-division Pitt-Bradford, UB opened a 26-0 lead and won easily in their regular season opener, [[101-38]]. Rodell Wigginton and Blake Hamilton scored 25 and 21 points in the win.
Pitt-Bradford was smaller and slower than Bulls, turning the ball over 25 times on 14 Buffalo steals and playing the final 17 minutes of the game from a 50-plus point deficit. UB did allow 14 offensive rebounds against the undersized Panthers.
CJ Massinburg continued his strong play, scoring 10 points in his first three minutes on the floor and finishing with 19, while Lamonte Bearden, Nick Perkins, and Willie Conner all hit double digits. Every scholarship player scored in the win, and all but Lamonte Bearden pulled down at least two rebounds.
One of the few stats that remains independent of opponent quality is free throw shooting, where the Bulls were 19-26 (73%), right in line with last year's output as one of the best teams in program history. Otherwise, there's not a terrific amount to learn.
Buffalo is next in action Monday at Old Dominion as part of the Hall of Fame Tipoff Classic. That game starts at 7:00 and to our knowledge does not have a video feed available.
