Spring UB Volleyball Schedule Announced

UBBulls.com

The Spring 2021 UB Volleyball schedule has been released. The Bulls will play each team in the MAC twice, on back-to-back nights (except for Akron, UB will play Akron twice but not on back-to-back nights), for a total of 22 conference matches. There is no non-conference schedule this year.

The Bulls open on the road at regular season champion Miami (OH) on January 22 and 23, and then they return to Alumni Arena for their first home weekend on January 28 and 29, against defending MAC Champion Ball State. This could be a difficult opening two weeks for the Bulls.

The top four teams in the MAC will play for the conference championship, with the winner advancing to the NCAA Tournament. As there will only be 16 at-large teams selected for the NCAA Tournament, it is unlikely that a MAC team that doesn’t win the conference championship will advance to the NCAA Tournament.

During the MAC Basketball season, the volleyball matches will be Thursday and Friday nights, which is usually when there are no basketball games. Once the volleyball and basketball seasons overlap, a typical week for UB teams will be men’s basketball on Tuesday night, women’s basketball on Wednesday night, volleyball on Thursday and Friday, and then both men’s and women’s basketball on Saturday.

Notes:

  • In past years, the MAC schedule was 16 matches, with Buffalo playing MAC East teams twice (home and away) and playing MAC West teams once. Back-to-back matches against the same opponent didn’t happen.
