In what is hopefully the first Buffalo sweep in Cleveland the Bulls won both the Player and Coach of the year awards given out by the Mid American Conference. Buffalo as senior CJ Massinburg was named the MAC Player of the Year and Nate Oats earned his second straight MAC Coach of the Year honor.
CJ Buckets joins Turner Battle (2005), Mitchell Watt (2012), Javon McCrea (2014), and Justin Moss (2015) on the list of UB players given the honor. He was named to the MAC first team for the second time earlier this week.
CJ has done it all for Buffalo, he leads the team in scoring this season at 18.5 points, and is second in rebounding.
Massinburg is the second leading scorer in UB history with 1,910 point, that’s 94 points behind Javon McCrea.
Nate “Ball and Oats” won the Coach of the year after leading the Bulls to their highest ever win total and put them in position to be a lock for the NCAA tournament regardless of what happens in Cleveland. UB has been ranked since the second week of the season losing only one out of conference game and going through the year undefeated at home.
UB has been ranked as high as 14th in the nation in the AP poll, they currently sit at 18th in the AP and 16th in the Coaches poll.
UB is the top seed in Cleveland and will tip off at noon on Thursday against #8 Akron at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH. It’s a near home game for Akron, and the Zips have been getting better as the season goes along.
