Volleyball Loses to Bowling Green in the MAC Tournament

The UB Volleyball Team's season ended with a 3–0 loss (25–16, 25–21, 25–16) to Bowling Green in the Final Six round. Buffalo finishes the year with a 13–17 records, and 8–8 in the MAC (9–9 if you include tournament matches). Buffalo had split two matches with Bowling Green during the regular season.

Buffalo struggled at both serving and serve receive. Buffalo picked up zero aces during the match while making six service errors, while Bowling Green scored 10 aces and had only three service errors. Many other Bowling Green serves were poorly passed, and Buffalo could not run an effective offense on those plays. This was particularly noticeable in the first set, as Buffalo was victimized for four aces by the Falcons.

Senior outside hitter Polina Prokudina led Buffalo with 13 kills and hit 0.462, and junior middle blocker Lexi Nordmann had 6 kills and hit 0.500, but the rest of the offense struggled, hitting under 0.100. Buffalo's defense also was unable to stop Bowling Green's outside hitter Katelyn Meyer, who finished with 23 kills, a huge number for a three set match.

Five Buffalo seniors played their last match at UB — Prokudina, outside hitter Rachel Sanks, setter Scout McLerran (who officially finishes fourth on the UB career assist list and second in career assists per set), defensive specialist Hannah Watson and middle blocker Kristina Nieves. These seniors led Buffalo to the three best years in program history since Buffalo joined the MAC, with eight regular season MAC wins in 2017, 10 wins in 2018 and eight in 2019. Before 2017, Buffalo had never won more than six matches in the MAC in a season. These seniors also produced Buffalo's first ever victory in the MAC Tournament in the "Round of 8", a 3–0 win over Akron earlier this week.
