#124 - Don't Go to Liberty...you'll hate it.

I know the stuff about money, and removing the track at UB, and if only we had more cash we wouldn't do crowdfunding for a jugs machine, or some such thing. But..these guys have cash and a fabulous facility!!!

The fieldhouse is beside the stadium (a la UB - to be) and they host their FanFest there. Actually, when you enter, you get your ticket scanned; after when you head to the game you don't need go through any additional security and can head straight to your seating area, the groceries, whatever! This works. Please do this UB!

The FanFest was okay; no beer :-( But we did get a free "Inaugural FBS Season" T-shirt when we entered!

The stadium is very, very good! The scoreboard (isn't there someone on here who likes to point out the deficiencies of the UB scoreboard?) is great. The sightlines from the seats are all great. The student section is huge and full! The food is pedestrian, and I think I mentioned no beer.

This is the stadium that UB should have.

Speaking of beer...you say! On the way into Lynchburg, VA we stopped just north at Blue Mountain Brewery and I sampled the Hop Tub IPA...excellent. This is the first micro brew that I have been to where they had to have parking guys. The place was packed! People were parking a quarter of a mile away and walking to it. Outdoor seating; great beer! Remember this if you go to the UB @ Liberty game. And, you're welcome!

The game sucked...North Texas did what North Texas has been doing and throttled their opponent (in this case 47- 07). Mason Fines is fine...see what I did there?

Lynchburg is an okay town; very friendly people; the Memorial Steps are very top drawer. We even found a painted rock there.

Turner Gill doesn't have much of a team; sound at all familiar? Buckshot (yup, that's his name) Calvert won't be there when UB shows up if he shoots out early for the NFL draft (he won't...that was a bad joke). So you can see your first guy named Buckshot, if you go next year! What! You know another guy named "Buckshot"!

Great facilities; good micro brews near by; great part of America to visit in my opinion; and friendly hosts. You should all make the trip next year...

...except you'll hate it! :-)
