Mid American Conference Tournament - How to watch, and how to root

NCAA Basketball: MAC Conference Tournament-Akron vs Kent State Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Opening Round Schedule (Monday March 5) - All games begin at 7PM

The Mid American Conference mens basketball tournament kicks off tonight at 7:00.

With UB, Ball State, Toledo, and Eastern Michigan auto advanced to the quarter finals tonight is all about the campus round. The 5th through 8th seed teams will host the 9th through 12th and the winners will join the afore mentioned bye teams in Cleveland.

All of tonight action kicks off tonight and will be broadcast on ESPN3.

  • Bowling Green Falcons @ Central Michigan Chippewas

The winner here is the team UB will face, so it’s where my dial will be tuned.

It’s hard to pick a squad I’d rather play because CMU, when they are hot, can run up points in a hurry while Bowling Green has already got to try their hand at us twice this season.

So, let us all know in the comments, who would you rather face?

  • Northern Illinois Huskies @ Kent State Golden Flashes

I’d expect Kent to prevail here, but NIU can occasionally throw up a good game. I suppose I’d like Ball State to have a real challenge before they play in the semi finals.

  • Ohio University Bobcats @ Miami-Ohio Redhawks

Miami has been very good late in the season, Ohio went from really bad to half way decent. Well quarter way decent. Every fiber in my being sees Miami as more dangerous to have around but I just can’t bring myself to root for Ohio.

  • Akron Zips @ Western Michigan Broncos

Western Michigan has one of, if not the, most complete players in the MAC. That they ended up on the campus round is a testament to just how south their season went. But they are ever dangerous and would certainly like a shot at Eastern Michigan.
