Senior Days are always tough in the MAC. Either your last home game is on Thanksgiving weekend and all that comes with that, or its midweek with fans already needing to hoof it from work to the stadium. This year, it’s even tougher, since as a fan I am ENTIRELY looking past tonight’s game with Kent and toward a division-deciding showdown against Ohio.
Tonight, though, is our last chance to celebrate the Buffalo seniors at UB Stadium. As with any group, they’ve got a history here. Some came in with Leipold, while others were around for Jeff Quinn’s final season. Some transferred in, and while they didn’t spend their whole four years in the Blue and White, they’re finishing with us. Many were around when Solomon Jackson passed.
Two years ago, this program was 2-10. Last year, they barely missed out on a bowl while becoming just the third Bulls team to reach bowl eligibility in the FBS era. This season, we’re looking at the best start since 1959 and are one win away from matching the program high for wins in a season. The stability and leadership of this year’s seniors play a big role in that.
So hats off to you — we’ll be cheering from UB Stadium and across the country tonight.
