This week Buffalo heads to Toledo for a game against the Rockets, last years Mid American Conference Champions.
Toledo, 3-3 (1-1 MAC) is in something of a rebuilding year. When a programs “rebuilding seasons see them get half way through the year at .500 it gives you an idea of how solid they have been playing.
Offensivlely Toledo has a great talent at the skill positions.
Jon’Vea Johnson, Diontae Johnson, and Cody Thompson, is one of the top three receiving trios in the conference. They don’t have anyone as good as Anthony Johnson but they do have a solid enough core of receivers to make keep defenses from locking in on one or two guys.
On the ground they are led by their quarterback, Mitchell Guadagni, a true dual threat in the backfield. He will challenge Khalil Hodge and company with his ability to turn a broken pass play into positive running yards.
Even in their loss to then #21 Miami the rockets managed to put up 24 points. For Buffalo to win this game they are probably going to have to put up a lot of points.
Where the Bulls should be able to do some damage is running against the Rockets. Toledo’s run defense ranks 101st in the country. The Bulls’ freshman duo of Kevin Marks and Jaret Patterson have combined for 131.4 rushing yards per game and over 5.5 yards per carry.
Kickoff is Saturday, October 20, at Noon. The contest will be televised on ESPN+ and locally on Channel 2 (with pregame coverage starting at 11:30).
