NCAA Basketball: Buffalo at Syracuse Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Toledo made UB's conference opener a tough contest but behind a pheonominal night at the free throw line the Bulls Burried Toledo 104-94 at Buffalo's Alumni Arena.

UB led for most of the contest and had built a comy ten point lead ealry in the second half, but between the 15 and 10 minute marks the refs blew 10 fouls, most of them on Buffalo. That break in momentum let Toledo get back to within a score and it stayed there for until CJ Massinburg took over late in the game.

Massinburg scored 10 of his 27 points in the final 5:24 to help Buffalo pull away and beat Toledo 104-94 on Tuesday night in a Mid-American Conference opener. He ended the game tied with Toledo's Tre'Shaun Fletcher but CJ had help from Wess Clark and Nick Perkins who contributed 25 and 24 points respectively. Perkins added ten roubuds for his first double-double of the season.

With a few minutes left Fletcher made three free throws to pull Toledo (8-6) to 84-81. But Massinburg led UB on a 20-13 surge to end the half and secure the game.

The Rockets shot 54 percent from the field, but missed 12 free throws at the line, Buffalo on the other hand wsa an impressive 27 for 31. Massinburg was 10-10 and Perkins was 12-13.

In total the refs called 49 fouls, but it felt like even more.

UB's next game is on the road, this Saturday, at Ball State to square up with the Cardinals. BSU has looked really impressive so far this year, knocking of Notre Dame and Valparaiso out of conference.
