Not Everything is MACtion Standings: Week 3

In 2013, UB, NIU and BGSU fought to win the MAC, in 2016, they are in a race to the bottom of the NEIM Five Stat Standings

NCAA Football: Buffalo at Nevada Lance Iversen-USA TODAY Sports

The Not Everything Is MACtion weekly standings are based on a formula that believes dominating in 5 key stats will lead a team to MAC wins.

Standings

Team W/L Next Week

  1. Western Michigan 3-0 vs Georgia Southern
  2. (+3) Eastern Michigan 2-1 vs Wyoming
  3. (+1) Ohio 1-2 vs Gardner-Webb
  4. (-2) Central Michigan 3-0 at Virginia
  5. (-2) Toledo 3-0 BYE
  6. (+1) Kent State 1-2 at Alabama
  7. (-1) Ball State 2-1 at Florida Atlantic
  8. (+3) Akron 2-1 vs Appalachian State
  9. Miami (Ohio) 0-3 at Cincinnati
  10. (-2) Northern Illinois 0-3 vs Western Illinois
  11. (-1) Buffalo 0-2 vs Army
  12. Bowling Green 1-2 at Memphis

Top of the NEIM: Western Michigan remains on top of the NEIM after their season sweep of the B1G Illinois. They may face their toughest test of the season as undefeated Georgia Southern comes to the Zoo next week. WMU is 10th in the nation with 281.33 rushing yards per game, but Georgia Southern is 3rd in the nation with 356.33 rushing yards per game. Georgia Southern is also 5th in the nation, allowing only 2.1 yards per carry, with WMU 28th allowing 3.05 yards per carry.

If you are humble a fan of old school smashmouth football, this might be the game for you. It is also our Game of the Week

Note: Toledo may be the best team in the MAC, but their turnover margin is holding them back. The five key stats love EMU, and if the Eagles can beat Wyoming (who beat NIU week 1) then watch out, EMU might be a contender.
