Mid American Conference 2016 Tournament Set

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

The final night of the regular season provided a slew of upsets which propelled Buffalo into the third seed, and the quarter final bye past Kent and Ball State.

The Campus games will take place at EMU, Kent State, Ball State, and Northern Illinois.

EMU will take on Toledo, the opponent against whom they finished their season. The outcome of the final game determined the location as the Eagles 2-0 record versus Toledo shifted the game from Ohio to Michigan.

Kent State will host Bowling Green. A 14 point season ending loss to Akron dropped the flashes out of the top 4 spots in the conference. Bowling Green gave Buffalo all they could handle but the Bulls held fast in the closing minutes and prevailed despite being down most of the second half.

Western Michigan heads to Dekalb to take on NIU. The Huskies started the season strong but had a very hard middle part of their schedule. NIU did, however, do Buffalo a favor by ending their season with a victory over Ball State. That dropped the Cards from the top 4.

WMU also finished their season with an overtime win at CMU, a win that moved UB from the #4 seed to the #3 seed.

Ball State's loss means they get to Host Miami who finished the season 3-1, beating Akron, Kent, Buffalo, and nearly toppling Ohio. They Hawks went from just plain terrible two months ago to a team nobody is thrilled to be playing.

The top 4 seeds are Akron, who won the MAC regular season title. Ohio who slips in at #2, Buffalo who struggled down the stretch but managed to secure #3, and CMU who's senior night loss dropped them to #4.
