Even after loss, Buffalo's future looks bright

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — For the second straight year, Buffalo couldn’t close the deal on a first-round upset. And yet, the future looks even brighter for the Bulls.

Following its 79-72 loss to No. 3 Miami, 14th-seeded Buffalo could look at its underclassmen and project something bigger soon. Against one of the best teams in the ACC, freshman center Nick Perkins scored 20 and forced the Hurricanes to alter their usual rotation with his outside shooting. Sophomore point guard Lamonte Bearden possesses the speed to get anywhere he wants on the floor and the potential to become a more consistent finisher once he gets there. Freshman C.J. Massinburg came off the bench to score 11 for the Bulls.
