Once again UB came out flat footed and once again the 1st quarter deficit was a big factor in their loss. Three UB's first four drives went for less than 20 yards, and the other was a 41 yard drive which led to a missed fieldgoal. By the time UB got on the board the Bulls were already down 20-0.
Perhaps fittingly UB's scoring was started by the defense. Gus Ragland was strip sacked by Brandon Crawford. After the strip Crawford took the ball in from the nine yard line.
After the touchdown both offenses ground to a halt as the first half was finished by a trio of three and outs.
UB came out strong on their first possession of the second half. Behind the legs of Jordan Johnson and a pass interference penalty the Bulls drove to the Miami 22. But the drive stalled and Buffalo settled for a 30 yard field goal by Adam Mitcheson.
The defense held and it looked like UB might be poised to rally but Tyree Jackson was picked off by De'Andre Montgomery and taken in for a score. Miami missed the PAT but their lead still stretched to 26-10.
On the very next drive the Miami defense struck once again. Jackson and the Bulls drove inside of the Miami 10 but Tyree coughed up the ball and De'Andre Montgomery returned it 92 yards to make the score 32-10.
Buffalo put together their best drive of the game late in the fourth. An 11 play 75 yard drive engineered by Grant Rohach and capped off by a Jordan Johnson run two yard touchdown plunge. That made the score 35-17.
UB added one score late in the game. It was another Rohach drive, this time 69 yards, which ended with a 10 yard Johnathan Hawkins touchdown run.
The Bulls next game is against #21 Western Michigan.
