Who is wearing #23 in 2015?
Brandon Berry
Hometown: Detroit, Michigan
Year: Redshirt-Junior
Position: Linebacker
High School: Cass Tech
Freshman (2012): Berry Redshirted
Redshirt-Freshman (2013): Berry played in all 13 games primarily on special teams recording 14 tackles.
Redshirt-Sophomore (2014): Berry played in 9 games recording 9 tackles, with 4 tackles against Baylor. Against Ohio, Berry forced a fumble that lead to a Boise Ross return touchdown.
Outlook: Berry is moving from safety to linebacker. In spring he played on the second unit. A hard hitter, he was last listed at only 208 pounds. If he has bulked up, I can see him splitting time with presumed starter and fellow DB convert Okezie Alozie.
#23 UB Football Game
September 2, 2004 - UB 34, EMU 37
Gemara Williams forced a fumble on the first kickoff of the season, UB recovered at the 19. It was finally going to be UB"s season. Four plays later, while being stuffed for a loss on 4th and 3, Steven King fumbled, and EMU recovered and returned the fumble for a touchdown.
UB struck back when Aaron Sanders sacked the EMU quarterback, forcing a fumble that was recovered by Philip Jacques who ran 19 yards for a UB TD. After an EMU fumble and two UB interceptions, EMU took a 14-7 lead on a 7-yard TD run.
27 points were scored in the second half. UB had back to back TD drives, that covered 149 yards in 22 plays. EMU however kept the lead with a TD and two field goals to lead 27-21 at the half. After another EMU field goal, a Jared Patterson TD plunge brought UB within 2, the score 30-28.
Late in the thrid, a Ryan Sherwood forced fumble set up UB in EMU territory. Early in the fourth quarter, UB grabbed their second lead of the game on a Steven King touchdown run. A missed 2pt conversion left the score at 34-30. EMU answered to make the score 37-34. With 3 minutes remaining UB drove to the EMU 28, but instead of attempting the game-tying 45-yard field goal, UB tried to covert on 4th and 9. The Bulls failed and EMU was able to hold on for the win.
