It's been 13 years since Oakland won the west and just as many since the Silver and Black sniffed the post season. It is as if the Bucs show in super bowl 37 sent the raiders into the doldrums.

Starting with this new coaching staff, Jack Del Rio was named head coach of the Oakland organization, which was met with positive fanfare. Was it John Fox like everyone hoped? No, but was it the defensive mind that carried the Denver Broncos to Super Bowl 48? Absolutely. Rio now has veteran leadership stemming from Justin Tuck and Charles Woodson to help aid newer standouts like Khalil Mack, D.J. Hayden, and hopefully, Mario Edwards Jr. and Ben Heeney. So, on paper at least, the defensive side of the ball looks to be solid. It may not carry the team on its back singlehandedly, but it will be a key factor in some important football games.

Mack Will certainly be a big part of any success Oakland has this year.

Most of the speculation about Oliver's role in San Diego this season has revolved around the other running backs. But a "mistake" by San Diego tight end Antonio Gates may put more of a role on running back sho can catch the ball.

Gates has been a steady performer for the Chargers over the years and he has hooked up with Gates for a number of big touchdowns in that time and he will be tough to replace even for just four games.
