#49 UB Football Game
October 26, 2002 - UB 12, Kent State 16
Kent scored on a 75-yard pick-six and a blocked punt to take a 13-0 lead at the half. Down 16-0, in the 4th quarter, UB went on a 14 play 74-yard drive capitalized by a Randall Secky to Tim Dance 11-yard touchdown pass. A failed 2-point conversion made the score 16-6.
The defense forced a three-and-out and the offense responded again with a 9 play 72-yard drive ending with another Secky to Dance TD pass, this time from 17 yards. Dance caught 3 balls for 53 yards on the drive. UB missed the XP however, meaning they would need one more TD to win the game.
With 3:33 left, and two timeouts left, UB needed a quick stop. On 3rd and 4, Kent converted with a 6-yard run. Three plays later, UB stopped Kent on 3rd and 4 and got the ball back on the 18 yard line. With 82-yards to travel in 37 seconds, UB took to the air, but only got as far as their own 21-yard line before turning the ball over on downs.
UB had a golden opportunity for a win, outscoring the Kent offense 12-3. Unfortunately, two big plays by the Kent defense and special teams units won the day.
