UB received the ball first in the second half and decided to grind the ball on the ground, running James Starks 3 times for 21 yards. With UTEP cheating up, Drew Willy went deep to Naaman Roosevelt who beat his man, caught the ball and kept his balance for a 56-yard TD reception.
Starks finished with 31 runs for 179 yards and Brandon Thermilus ran 16 times for 102 yards and UB's final 2 touchdowns. Drew Willy threw only 16 times, but completed 10 passes for 221 yards and 4 TDs. Naaman Roosevelt was hi main target and he caught 4 balls for 154 yards and 2 TDs.
The real story of the second half was the UB defense. In the third quarter UTEP had a first and goal from the 10, but were held to a field goal. UB only allowed 73 yards on 15 plays in the quarter. In the fourth quarter, UB's defense was even stingier, John Syty nabbed two interceptions and the defense held UTEP to 32 yards on 9 plays in the fourth quarter. Linebackers Syty and Justin Winters led the Bulls defense, Winters had 10 tackles, 2 TFLs, a sack and an interception.
