#79 UB Football Game
September 8, 2007 - UB 42, Temple 7
James Starks took a screen pass 74 yards on the first play of a game where everything went UB's way.
Drew Willy threw an interception on the next drive, but Mike Newton picked off Temple's next pass and returned it 50 yards for a TD. From that point on, Willy threw 11 consecutive completions, including one to himself, as UB built a 35-7 lead. Willy finished 20 for 22 for 190 yards and 2 TDs.
UB dominated out-gaining Temple 414-141. Mario Henry led the ground attack with 17 runs for 126 yards. Ernest Jackson grabbed 5 receptions for 40 yards. On defense, Larry Hutchinson led the Bulls with 8 tackles, 3 sacks, 4 TFLs, 2 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. "Hawk and Newt" (Kendrick Hawkins and Mike Newton) each had an interception and Trevor Scott added 2 sacks.
The game was the second 40+ point game with a margin of victory of 27+ in six games, dating back to the 41-14 defeat of Kent State in 2006, and was the only fourth occurrence in UB's FBS history after the 44-0 win vs Ohio in 2001, and the 48-20 defeat of UCF in 2004. The win was also the first road win by UB in almost two years, dating back to the November 12, 2005 defeat of Kent State in Ohio.
