For the threat that Akron presented, blowing out NIU, hitting some timely threes against WMU, and capitalizing on some strange offensive decisions from Kent State, they ultimately succumbed tonight to our Buffalo Bulls.
We'll have much more and a full recap in minutes, but I needed to get a post up just to say: We're going to the 'ship! No matter how ugly it was, we're going.
The last time UB played on Friday the 13th at any time of the season was their last victory in a MAC semifinal: the Max Boudreau game against Ball State in 2009. Tonight's win of course gives the Bulls their first entry in a MAC Championship game since then, and their third ever (2005).
Buffalo has now won seven in a row dating back a full month. Their last loss? A crushing one-point home loss to tomorrow's opponent, Central Michigan. The Chippewas beat the Bulls twice this season, on February 14th and January 21st, and have quickly this season become the story of the MAC behind First Team All-MAC guard Chris Fowler and MAC Coach of the Year Keno Davis.
CMU advanced to tomorrow's final themselves with a 75-66 win over Toledo behind 26 points from Fowler and 18-34 shooting from inside the arc. Surprisingly, the Chips were only 8-23 from beyond the arc.
Regardless, we're in for a stressful day of waiting tomorrow. Full recap to follow. Go Bulls!
