In the first of today's NECHL quarterfinal games the Buffalo Bulls used a high pressure offense and timely goal keeping to down the sixth seed Oswego lakers by a score of 6-1. Tommorow they will meet Syracuse in the semifinals.
Despite being overpowed by the Bulls, Oswego found themselves locked in a 0-0 tie until Mike Schalberg lit the lamp with 3:34 lefe in the first period. Assising on the coal was Gavin Evancho and Sean Dungan. A couple of minutes later Wilie Sanchez finds the back of the net to make the score 2-0.
Tyler Stark only had to turn away five shots in the first but the Bulls launched 20 at the Lakers' net minder.
The Bulls went up 3-0 when Chris Marsack added a Power play goal off a pass from Brenden Robinson seven minutes into the 2nd.
A few minutes later the Lakers would take advantage of a UB turnover to get on the board and Oswego began to push. Around 14 minutes into the second period two stellar back to back saves from Tyler Stark to keep the Bulls in the lead 3-1 5:50 left in the 2nd.
Inside the last sixty seconds of the second Matt Notaro put home a short handed goal to put UB up 4-1.
UB added a fifth goal when Michael Schalberg scored a Powerplay goal in to make it 5-1 in the third period. Later in the period Chris Marsack netted a 2nd goal to make the score 6-1.
In the evening game Cortland made short work of RIT.
