With the injury to Emmanuel Arceneaux, the BC Lions needed someone to step up their production. Ernest Jackson has stepped up to lead BC in receiving in both of their games this season. Seven receivers have a catch for BC this year, but EJ leads them all with 110 yards on 7 receptions, good enough for 7th in receiving yards in the CFL.
After bursting on the scene with a 4 catch 87 yard performance in his first game he followed up with 23 receptions and 260 yards in his final 9 games of 2012. In 2013, EJ's only receiving action came in a game against Saskatchewan, where he grabbed 4 catches for 32 yards.
EJ plays Saskatchewan again this Saturday as his 0-2 Lions travel to Regina in search of their first win of the season. The Roughriders shut down Hamilton's passing game at home in week one, only allowing 159 yards passing, but last week, Toronto exploded for 331 yards passing against the Riders. Hopefully Ernest Jackson has another big game against Saskatchewan and this time leads the Lions to their first victory of the season.
STAT OF THE WEEK
Ernest Jackson has one career receiving touchdown in the CFL. He scored on a brilliant diving grab on September 8, 2012. It's been 1 year, 10 months and a few days since he grabbed a receiving TD, let's hope the streak ends on Saturday.
