UB 5 - Maryland Eastern Shore 3

A day after surviving their second contest with VMI the Bulls would take on Maryland Eastern Shore to compete the weekend. A Bulls win would lift UB to a 6-1 record on the year and a 3-1 record during the VMI tournament.

What seemed like it might be an easy win ended up an extra innings nail biter as Buffalo's sloppy fielding early cost them several unearned runs. It would take 10th inning heroics by Mike Scarcello to win the game

Buffalo sent ace pitcher Mike Burke to the mound and in the early innings everything seemed to be lining up for a UB win. Despite UB committing two fielding errors the game went into the 4th scoreless. Then Buffalo dropped two on UMES to take a 2-0 lead.

It started with a one out Mallaro single to center followed by a figgens and Dudek walk. Scarcello would single to right bringing Figgens and Mallaro in. UB lost a chance for more runs when Sinay was called out for Batter interference.

In the fifth however UB's sloppy play in the field would catch up with the Bulls.

It started when Burke let the first two batters on base. A sacrifice bunt would score one and then a throwing error on the next play prevented UB from escaping the inning and allowed a run to score. The very next play a triple but Turlik put in a third run for UMES and handed them the lead.

In the bottom of the 6th UB played small ball to tie the game. A Dudek lead off double was followed by a Scarcello Sacrifice bunt and a Topps Sacrifice fly. After six the score was tied at three.

In the 8th Burke found himself in a jam with Runners on second and third with only one out but he struck out Fleetwood and force Breslin to pop up to second to keep the game tied going into the 9th. In the top of the 9th UB got the bases loaded with one out but Sinay hit into a double play ending the UB threat.

In the bottom of the 10th Mike Scarcello hit a one out, two run homer to win the game.
