For the second game in a row UB's Pitchers were solid but this time the guy throwing for the other team were been better as the Virginia Commonwealth Rams (15-3) defeated the Buffalo Bulls (8-5) by a score of 1-0.

UB Hurler Mike Burke Mike Burke threw eight solid innings, surrendering only a single run in the first. It was Burke's first loss of the season. The UB senior fell to 1-1, despite owning a 0.93 ERA and allowing just three earned runs over 29.1 innings pitched.
The problem for UB came from VCU's Heath Dwyer. The VCU senior struck out 15 UB batters during his complete game shutout. He allowed just two hits and walked four.
Freshman Vinny Mallaro had the best game of any batter for the Bulls, going 1-2 with a double and a walk.
Buffalo is nearly complete with pre-conference play. UB last game before a trip to NIU is at Valparaiso. Last season UB was 10-9 before entering MAC play, for the second year in a row Buffalo will open up against the MAC with a winning record.
