Buffalo Bulls Recruiting Linebackers

Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

In case you have not heard Lou Tepper "Wrote the Book on Linebackers". Tepper's reputation as a linebacker building machine was only enhanced by the Progress of Khalil Mack. Before Tepper set foot on campus it was clear that Mack was something special but the Fort Pierce Florida native is now a presumptive first round draft pick after two years in under the former LSU defensive coordinator.

This season the linebackers are probably one of the strongest units recruited by Buffalo. The group includes a top 30 prospect from Michigan and New York along with the #31 prospect from Virginia. All three had offers from other FBS schools and in the case of Myles Nicholas he decommitted from a Conference USA school to join the Bulls.

Perhaps it's Teppers reputation which has seemingly mad UB an attractive school for Linebackers. The Bulls are losing Mack this season, they will lose Adam Redden next, but by the time Redden leaves this years crop of linebackers will be a factor. They will have either used up their redshirts or will have a year of play under their belt.

White has also been getting recruited by Iowa and Michigan State among others. According to White the success of Khalil Mack helped pique his interest in UB. When asked about his interactions with Mack White said when he talked to the first round prospect Mack gave had some very "inspiring words". White believes that with a strong enough work ethic and the right mindset he can eventually grow into a defender at Mack's level.

NCAA Recruiting - Corey Henderson 3 Star LB verbals to Buffalo - Bull Run

Tepper's defenses are more than likely to be driven by their linebackers. With Mack graduating and Redden and others going into their senior year there is a powerful need to pull talented prep linebackers into the program this season.

...

Corey Henderson may be one of those linebackers. He chose Buffalo over offers from UMass, Kent, VMI, and Air Force. Henderson told Bull Run that he picked UB "because of the coaching staff and the team is close to one another so It seems like they are family. And the education at buffalo is one of the best in the nation."
