After throwing away a huge lead against the Ohio Bobcats the Bulls look to gain ground on the top of the conference when they take on the East leading Akron Zips Wednesday Night. Currently UB is one game behind Akron for first place in the MAC East. The department has encouraged fans to wear white to the game and join us in a "white out."
Three Bulls are scoring in double figures. They are Javon McCrea (18.3 ppg), Joshua Freelove (12.5 ppg) and Will Regan (10.5 ppg). McCrea is the team's leading rebounder (10.1 rpg).
Akron is 17-8 and 9-3 in conference following a 62-54 home win over Northern Illinois.
They are led by Demetrius Treadwell who is scoring 14.5 points and 8.8 rebounds per game. He has 13 double-doubles on the year to lead the MAC. Quincy Diggs is second on the team at 12.1 points per game.
Of course the last time Akron came to UB the Bulls ended the Zips 19 game win streak. Zeke Marshall led the Zips with 17 points, six rebounds, five blocked shots and three steals. Demetrius "Tree" Treadwell and Alex Abreu finished with 14 points each.
But it was Buffalo's Javon McCrea led all scorers with 26 points.
Akron leads the all-time series 26-22, but the Bulls have won three of the last four meetings and have won the the last four at Alumni Arena.
