Week 14 Bowl Eligibility Watch

What a bad week for UB. On and off the field.

As the MAC prematurely deemed UB irrelevant, UB still needs three things to go to a bowl game this year:

1) Beat UMass

2) Hope there is an unfilled bowl spot when the season ends.

3) Get a waiver from the NCAA to allow us in at 5-6.

There will be 76 bowl teams in 2014.

With five spots remaining there are a few footnotes:

The winners of:

Illinois/Northwestern

Virginia/Virginia Tech

will be bowl eligible, while the loser will not, which means there are really only 3 spots remaining.

That leaves 15 teams fighting for the final 3 spots. UB needs 13 of those 15 teams to fail to gain bowl eligibility.

If everything goes our way, there will be three teams in the hunt for the final three bowl spots at the end of week 14:

Oklahoma State, who would be eliminated with a loss at Olahoma 12/6

Temple who would be eliminated with a loss vs Cincy above and a loss at Tulane on 12/6

Navy, who would be eliminated with the above loss vs South Alabama and a loss vs Army on 12/13.

I think Navy and Temple, will win one of their two games to become eligible, so we kinda need every other team on the list to lose week 14.
