Not a lot going on for UB this weekend, but what is happening is a pretty big deal. Most of the fall sports are done, and the two big winter Olympic sports are taking a weekend off, though both basketball teams are getting started tonight.
THURSDAY
Volleyball picked up a big, if expected, win over Akron last night in three sets. Now 5-10 in the MAC, UB sits alone in ninth, sandwiched between 5-9 CMU and 4-10 Bowling Green. Both teams play tonight, against division leaders Northern Illinois and Ohio, respectively. If the standings play out, UB will be tied with CMU at 5-10 in eighth place going into the final game of the season.
FRIDAY
Both Cross Country teams are at the NCAA Regional meet in New York City today. Live results will be available at this link sometime today. In theory, with a big enough result, either team or individual harriers could extend their season today.
Women's Soccer is in State College, PA now, getting ready for their NCAA tournament game against the Nittany Lions. I'll be heading down this afternoon and will have live updates on the @UBBullRun twitter account.
Of course, while they're not Olympic sports, but Women's Basketball and Men's Basketball start their regular season tonight with a doubleheader, the women hosting Siena at 5:00 and the men hosting South Dakota State at 7:00 or roughly 30 minutes after the women's game ends
SATURDAY
Volleyball will finish up the regular season with a road match against the Toledo Rockets, who are 1-26 on the season. As I said above, pending results tonight from other MAC contests, UB could very well be a win away from just their third-ever MAC tournament.
SUNDAY
Men's Basketball travels to Kentucky to take on a team that has more McDonald's All-Americans than the LA Lakers, with tip off at noon.
