Buffalo Opens the Season 4-0 Braces for Ithaca and RIT

The UB Hockey team opened up at home last week. They demolished Robert Morris and won a close game against Mercyhurst. Buffalo has now started the season 4-0, are ranked in the ACHA top 20 and have secured their first league win of the season over Canisius.

Buffalo buried Robert Morris last Friday by a score of 9-2. UB scored three goals in the first two periods and then pounded away 9 more in the third. Dimitri Koutsomitis' two goals led the Bulls. Seven other UB players scored one goal. In net Dylan Arnold stopped 24 of the 26 saves he faces to collect his second win of the season.

The next day Mercyhurst came to Amherst and for the second time in as many weeks the Lakers were on the sad end of a 1 goal game. Freshman Tyler Stark made 31 stops in the shutout and Matt Notaro scored the games loan goal in the second period.  Gavin Evancho was the lone assist on the Notaro goal.

This Friday UB will host Ithaca. The Bombers are 0-4 getting stopped on in two games by Slippery Rock and forfeiting two more to Liberty. They are led by Tim Foster with 5 points. In NEt they seem to favor Conner Friend.

On Saturday UB will square up with RIT. The Tigers one game this season was a Penn State-Behrend and they won 8-3.
