2014-15 UB Bulls Women's Basketball Preview: Mackenzie Loesing

Macktion is back. Mackenzie Loesing, the Junior guard from Cincinnati has the UB scoring record in her sights and the scary thing is, there is still room for her to get even better.

UB Athletics

Number: 35

Year: Junior

Position: Guard

From: Cincinnati, Ohio

Question: Loesing is UB's biggest weapon. For two years she has been the scoring leader, with many leaders graduated, will Loesing become the emotional team leader as well?

Random Stat: Led the Team in scoring in 43% of UB's games in 2013-14.

Career: Loesing has only led UB in scoring in both her Freshman and Sophomore years, earned 2nd team All-MAC honors, and is on track to become UB's all-time scoring leader, she currently has scored 843 points as a Bull.

Game of the year: November 16, vs Cornell Loesing notched a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds in a losing effort early in the 2013-14 season.

2014-15 Outlook: Loesing is like Joe Licata, she was thrown in the fray early and excelled. Like Licata, Loesing has two years left (well Joe has 1.5 now) to improve and solidify her place in UB history.

Hopefully Mackenzie gets better looks this year, in her Sophomore year, Loesing's field goal percentage, three point percentage and free throw percentage dipped. If in 2013-14 she shot at her 2012-13 rate, Loesing would have scored an additional 63 points.

Loesing showed more comfort on the floor, improving in assists, rebounds and turnovers. If she can continue to score while improve in those three categories in Jack's uptempo offense, UB might be unstoppable in 2014-15.
