Buffalo 65 at Toledo 67 Instant Reactions

Mark L. Baer-USA TODAY Sports

So the Toledo Blade helped set the Narrative before the game. Freelove and Moss, both Toledo castoffs found a home on refugee island "Buffalo". Of course they did not say that it was because the Freelove did not measure up but they certainly implied it.

Seven seconds into the game, Freelove scored the first points of the contest. Two minutes later, he hit a three to put the Bulls up 7-6. Another Freelove three point shot coming out of the under 13 minute timeout grew the UB lead to 24 to 13.

Then up 26-13 the Bulls went cold. Toledo took their bench players out and went on a 8-0 run to close the score to 26-21. Will Regan eventually broke the run.

The teams would continue to trade punches with the Rockets closing to within five on several occations. But a Freelove three extended to the lead to nine. At the half Freelove had scored 11 points on 4-5 shooting from the floor.

Toledo 18-10. But the Rockets were playing a very clean game in the first with only five penalties, Buffalo used 10 through the first 20 minutes. In the first half UB never took a shot from the line. None of the five Toledo fouls were shooting fouls.

But as hot as Freelove and the Bulls were in the first half they were ice cold in the second.

The Rockets meticulously cut into the Buffalo lead until with only minute remaining. UB managed to tie the game with 2.4 seconds left but Toledo had a great inbound and long pass by Nathan Boothe to Julius Brown who hit a jumper as time expired to seal away a 67-65 win.
