Baylor 69 - Wofford 3
Baylor Obliterates Wofford 69-3 in Opener - Our Daily Bears
What can you say after a game like this? Baylor scored 28 in the first quarter, 10 in the second, 28 in the third, and then 3 at the end after shutting things down almost completely. Along the way, the defense pitched a near shutout, allowing only 3 points through the entire game in what has to be the most impressive performances by the Bears in some time. Wofford is a good team. Tonight, Baylor made them look like they were not. It's hard to imagine, but I actually did our entire program a disservice by limiting the prediction thread to Baylor + 30. We ended up winning by 66.
UConn 18 - Townson 33
Towson 33 - UConn 18: An Unmitigated Disaster - The UConn Blog
And worse yet, Towson dominated UConn in every facet of the game right from the get go. They ran the ball all over UConn, completed short, medium and deep passes whenever they wanted, and they absolutely crushed UConn's offensive line. Chandler Whitmer had some quality throws, but it seemed like every other play he was running for his life the moment he had the ball in his hands.
EMU 34 - Howard 24
EMU 34, Howard 24 recap " Eagle Totem Eagle Totem
It was almost worse, though; it was almost an actual loss. With EMU trailing 17-13 midway through the third quarter, I suggested to a friend that a loss to Howard should result in an immediate firing. Moments later, the Bison scored again, taking a double-digit lead and I was ready for the entire coaching staff to lose their jobs on the spot. Let’s face it, if they had proven unable to coach the team to a win over Howard, they probably wouldn’t have been able to find any other wins on the schedule this year either; the Bison are expected to be far and away the worst team the Eagles will face this fall.
WMU 13 - Michigan State 13
Western Michigan Falls To Michigan St., 26-13 - Hustle Belt
Sure the Broncos ended up with a mere 11 yards rushing on 27 attempts. Sure they turned the ball over 4 times (3 INTs, 1 fumble lost), with two immediately resulting in Spartan defensive touchdowns. Sure they only went 18-for-48 throwing for 193 yards. But at the same time, Western Michigan held a Big Ten team to 4.3 yards/carry (much better than previous years), forced Andrew Maxwell and Connor Cook to just 17-for-37 throwing for 116 yards, and forced a fumble. They forced Michigan State to punt a near team record 11 times, and held MSU to just 5/19 on 3rd down attempts.
UMass 0 - Wisconsin 45
UMass struggles in 45-0 season-opening loss to Wisconsin - Hustle Belt
Charley Molnar said in the postgame radio interview that they plan to use both Wegzyn and Doyle every week and Doyle did his part to make sure he's included in the gameplan. He completed five-of-seven passes for 39 yards and converted two-of-three third downs on that last possession.
Kent 17 - Liberty 10
Liberty Flames vs. Kent State Golden Flashes - Recap - August 29, 2013 - ESPN
Colin Reardon threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Chris Humphrey late in the fourth quarter as Kent State avoided a season-opening upset with a 17-10 win over Liberty on Thursday night.
Ohio 7 - Louisville 49
Ohio Bobcats vs. Louisville Cardinals - Recap - September 01, 2013 - ESPN
"We didn't give them much resistance, but the way they played, the way they executed, the quality of athlete that they've got -- I think it's definitely a top-10 team," Bobcats coach Frank Solich said. "Certainly, I think it's the best overall team since I've been at Ohio that we've played."
Toledo 6 - Florida 24
Toledo Rockets vs. Florida Gators - Recap - August 31, 2013 - ESPN
Terrance Owens completed 17 of 38 passes for 155 yards, with an interception. David Fluellen ran nine times for 46 yards, including a 28-yard burst. And Bernard Reedy caught seven passes for 50 yards. They were no match for the Gators, who got standout performances from defensive end Dominique Easley, linebacker Neiron Ball and freshman cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III.
Miami 14 - Marshall 54
Miami Drops to Marshall 52-14 - Hustle Belt
However, in the third quarter, things quickly went wrong for the RedHawks. Miami took a front row seat to the Rakeem Cato show, watching as he threw three TDs in the third quarter alone. Cato finished the game with five total TD's. But, Miami took home a moral victory by surprisingly keeping Cato under 300 yards.
Bowling Green 34 - Tulsa 7
FalconBlog-- Sweet Victory: BG over Tulsa, Special Teams and the big picture.
Who are these guys? They deserve to celebrate and it is great to see it. As for where we are now...the land of high expectations just got higher. It is only one game, but I think BG is on the high end of already high expectations. You are on the tightrope now...which is where you want to be.
