Buffalo Bulls Football on WBBR in New York City

Something of a mini coup here puts UB games on the radio in New York City as White continues to push UB as "New York's Team"

So Saith UB Athletics -

In an effort to continue expanding the University at Buffalo Athletics brand across the state of New York, the school announced today that a select number of UB football and men’s basketball games will air live on Bloomberg Radio in New York City. This unprecedented move marks the first time in school history UB athletic events will air on local radio in the Big Apple.

Up to seven football games (to be determined) will air on Bloomberg Radio this fall. The games will air on WBBR 1130 AM – a 50,000 watt radio station serving New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Come November, a select number of UB men’s basketball games will also be broadcast on Bloomberg. Those games will be announced closer to the start of the season.

Up to Seven games leaves some wiggle room but it's fair to say UB will be getting more play in NYC than even before. This brings the second largest bast of UB Alumni live games on the radio.

In case you did not guess by the name WBBR is a news station first. They spend the week talking markets and then has the radio broadcast rights to several of the national Sunday morning news programs such as Meet the Press, Fox News Sunday, and This Week.

But don't worry Sports fans know where WBBR is on the dial. WBBR serves as an overflow station for WFAN and airs games from New York and New Jersey teams, mainly the New Jersey Devils, Brooklyn Nets and New York Mets, when there are scheduling overlaps.

WBBR is also the flagship station for the Notre Dame football-ISP Sports Radio Network and carries St. John's basketball games. It provides Westwood One's coverage of the annual Masters Tournament.

There is an old question "How do you eat an elephant". The answer is simple, "One Bite at a time". White has continued to take a series of small bites out of New York. If you had said last year that UB Football and Hoops games will be on the radio in New York City I would have called you nuts, yet here we are.
