Buffalo running back Branden Oliver earned Doak Walker Award preseason watch list honors Thursday – the award presented to the nation’s premier running back by the PwC SMU Athletic Forum.
The 5-foot-8, 202-pound senior joins six other Mid-American Conference running backs on the list.
Oliver missed five games in 2012 but still managed to record 821 rushing yards. He set the single-season rushing record with 1,395 yards in 2011 and is 626 away from breaking the all-time career rushing record at Buffalo.
The award announces the winner on the Home Depot College Football Awards show Dec. 12 on ESPN. Former Wisconsin running back Montee Ball won the award in 2012.
