MAC East Scenarios - How Buffalo, Bowling Green, or Ohio can win the MAC East

Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

EAST CONF Remaining
Buffalo 5-0 Toledo, Miami, BGSU
Bowling Green 4-1 Ohio, EMU, Buffalo
Ohio 3-2 BGSU, Kent, Umass

Last week I posted the MAC Divisional Tie Breakers.

Tonight the Buffalo Bulls took care of the Ohio Bobcats and Bowling Green destroyed Miami.

Mathematically all three teams can still win the East but the loss to Buffalo makes it, basically, a two horse race. But for the sake of having fun lets talk about all three teams and how they win the East.

Fastest Road to win the East

Buffalo Bulls.

Buffalo can win the MAC East as early as November 19th when they play Miami.

If UB wins at Toledo and Ohio takes down Bowling Green then the Bulls have a two game lead on the Falcons and Bobcats. With two games left at that point UB then clinches at least a share of the MAC East.

If Buffalo can then beat Miami in Oxford they would clinch the division.

Bowling Green

The Falcon's can't clinch the East until the final week of the season but they can go a long way towards keeping Buffalo from clinching by winning next week at Ohio and then dispatching Eastern Michigan.

If they win out, or if Buffalo loses to Toledo then the Clash at the Ralph will determine who goes to Detroit;

Ohio

The Bobcats need a ton of help. First they need Buffalo to lose all three remaining games. They can't beat the Bulls in a tie breaker so the need to finish one game ahead of Buffalo.

They also need to win out. They need to beat Bowling Green, Kent, and UMass to get the tie breaker against the Falcons.
