Three Point Shot : The Three Plays that costs UB the game

Buffalo made an amazing comeback tonight and then choked it all away with three sloppy plays.

What I saw

Buffalo played 30 minutes of terrible basketball, nine and a half minutes of brilliant basketball and then 30 seconds of bad hoops to round things out. This could have been a gut check game that turned this season around instead it's a game which proves once more this is not a team that has learned to win those close games.

Kudos to Cameron Downing for almost single handedly turning things around. In a game where the Santora's Pizza contestant was a better outside shot than anyone from Buffalo Downing got hot late and drove the Bulls into position to win.

At some point during UB's 2-19 distance night it should have occurred to stop taking those shots yet time after time for 30 minutes UB continued to lob up ill advised threes. What was an ill advised three in this game you ask? *ANY THREE*

At the end of the day it's a home loss in conference and this is not the kind of year UB can afford to lose those games if they want to go into Cleveland with their head above water. Is this the level of play that UB achieves the rest of the year? How low will things get before UB turns it around? will they turn it around?

Three Plays to make or break your night

Play 1: The Rebound

Miami, Trailing by one, misses a shot with about 30 seconds left in the game. The ball goes off the rim and falls in the middle of no less than three UB Bulls. None of them can corral the ball and it ends up going off of them and out of bounds. Miami get the ball and the shot clock is turned off and that leads to play 2..

Play 2: The block and the foul

With no shot clock the Hawks inbound and take their sweet time setting up their play. The come in only have Javon McCrea swat the ball away. Now with about ten seconds left Buffalo is unable to come up with the ball and Will Sullivan changes back in only to be fouled. Miami hits two and are up by one, but there is still time for

Play 3: The inbound

Buffal quickly gets the ball across center court and calls a timeout with four seconds left. They then call their set and Auraum Nuiriankh puts up a very ugly inbound pass that is picked off by Miami to seal the UB Loss
