Alonzo Lee, Sr. returns to his second season as Morgan State's defensive coordinator. Lee has won seven MEAC Championships at four different schools over a 30-year coaching career.
During a previous stint with the Bears, MSU not only finished No. 1 in the conference in total defense, but also showcased one of the best defenses in the FCS. In 2008, the Bears led the nation in total defense a year after finishing No. 2 in the country in total defense.
Lee is now rebuilding the Morgan State defense which closly resembles the hybird 3-4 employed by the Bulls.
Like the Bulls the defense has to replace their nose tackle.
Redshirt freshman Damarco Bisbee is a beast in the middle at 6-4, 340 pounds. Bisbee was a presence but accumulated no stats in his first game against Sacred Heart.
Even though he is inexperienced Bisbee could provide a handful for the center of the Buffalo line.
Outside linebacker Tierney Yates might be the most dynamic players in the Bears front seven. In their season opener he racked up eight tackles, including three for loss and one sack. He is a very tall and lean player at 6'3", 205 pounds.
Tierney and lineman Bakari Smith are the only senior starters among Morgan State's front seven.
