Morgan State Athletics - Morgan State Needs 4 overtimes to hold off Sacred Heart, 30-27
Morgan State fans were treated to a dramatic season-opener, including a 4-overtime 30-27 victory against first-time opponent Sacred Heart today at Hughes Stadium. The Bears needed a late field goal by senior placekicker Earvin Gonzalez to beat the Pioneers in front of a crowd of 3,651 fans. The Bears caught a big break in the third overtime, when Chris Oger's field goal was low and blocked by MSU defensive lineman Damarco Bisbee, extending life to the Bears.

Towson Tigers vs. Kent State Golden Flashes - Recap - August 30, 2012 - ESPN

UConn 37 - UMass 0: As good a start as we could ask for - The UConn Blog
t UConn fans should definitely walk away from tonight feeling very, very pleased. Was it merely a qualified success? Sure, but it still showed more than would have been reasonable to ask for a few hours ago. Whitmer appears to be a real, honest-to-god QB, the special teams are amazing and the defense is even better. We knew the offensive line would be a question mark, but with all of tonight's rotations there might be a solution in there somewhere. If you had offered me this result before the game I would have taken it 100 times out of 100. I don't want to overreact to a win over a team that for all intents and purposes is still in the FCS, but there are a lot of reasons to be happy about tonight's win. Now bring on NC State and some real competition. If UConn wins next week we might be in for something really good.

UMass Trounced in FBS Opener by UConn – Maroon Musket – Your Source for UMass Football News and Analysis
The Huskies simply outclassed a UMass team that spent much of the first half trying to find a rhythm, and a good portion of the second trying to erase the memories of the first. UConn came out of the gates on a mission, and in the first half put up 20 points, nine first downs and held the new-look Minutemen to a meager 26 yards of offense.

OHIO Remembers To Play Football In Second Half, Knocks Off Penn State - Hustle Belt
Can they go undefeated? I don't know, maybe, but who cares? What I saw from the Bobcats in this game was unreal: they rebounded from an atrocious first half where they could only muster three points. They didn't allow any points in the second half. And those fumbles helped it from being a 21-point deficit at halftime.

Northern Illinois 17, Iowa 18: Heartbreak Huskies - Red And Black Attack
You can't fault the Huskies for effort. I'm past the point of being negative about this team and I'm looking for the positives. Especially after becoming MAC Champs last year. NIU looked to finally get past that point of being #badluckHuskies but this game didn't display that.

Youngstown State 31, Pitt 17: Sigh... - Cardiac Hill
In a weather-delayed and rainy game, Pitt's defense played like they were in a fog for most of the game. The Youngstown State offense did what they had to do. They took advantage of a young Pitt front seven and simply beat down this defense. Even the secondary, the supposed strength of this defense, had its moments of weakness against the Penguins. When Pitt needed a stop, they couldn't get one. The defensive line was for the most part dominated by YSU's offensive line, the linebackers were just awful. It's bad - really bad.

Toledo's Overtime Loss Capped Off Near-Miss Saturday - Hustle Belt
But you always focus on the last play. Admittedly I glossed over much of the first 60 minutes and there were certainly Key Plays That Led To This but how about, on UA's overtime possession, the UT defense almost forcing Arizona quarterback Matt Scott out of bounds on third down before he stepped up and located Terrence Miller for six points? It looked incredibly lucky but essentially Scott had enough time for a receiver to break open and found him.

No. 18 Ohio State Buckeyes Defeat Miami (Ohio) RedHawks, 56-10 - Land-Grant Holy Land
The Urban Meyer era in Columbus got off to a sluggish start, at least by the oft impossible to live up to standards of the Ohio State faithful. But with one unimaginable, brilliant one-armed Devin Smith grab, the Buckeye team those in central Ohio (and beyond) expected to see slowly began to become a reality. With an aggregate afternoon that would make Heisman year Tim Tebow jealous, Braxton Miller and company came back from an early 0-3 deficit to take down the Miami (Ohio) Redhawks, 56-10.

FalconBlog--Triumphs and Trials in the BGSU Falcon Nation: Gators: A closer look
Speaking of passing, BG had 226 passing yards for the game, which is not a lot to show for 52 attempts. BG was 25 of 52 for 48%, which is part of it. The other part was we had to run really short routes to try and negate the Florida pass rush. The longest pass play was 22 yards, though we did do it twice.
