It was a tough week for Buffalo football fans, but pretty much everyone else we play had a great week.

Georgia 48, Vandy 3: Your New Culture Both Surprises And Delights Me. - Dawg Sports
It's hard to get in a knock down, drag out fight with an opponent who falls to the canvas after the first couple of right jabs. On Saturday night in Athens, James Franklin proved conclusively that you can talk all you want about culture change. All that goes out the window when a physically superior football team punches you square in the mouth and you simply don't respond. Culture, schmulture. To continue my movie-themed commenting from the open comment thread, and to paraphrase Smokey from Friday, you, Vanderbilt Commodores, got knocked the freak out. Everything else is just elaboration, which I will gladly provide after the jump.
Fire everyone: Western Michigan 30, UConn 24 - The UConn Blog
Well, it looked like we might have had a season for a while. It was a fun month while it lasted. UConn was embarrassed by a MAC team for the second straight year, losing to Western Michigan despite the Broncos playing much of the second half without star QB Alex Carder. The Huskies were miserable in every phase of the game and a combination of stupid mistakes, dropped passes and costly turnovers did ultimately did them in. The Huskies are now 2-2 and while they should expect to beat Buffalo next week and probably Temple in mid-October, finding six wins (and bowl eligibility) on the remainder of the schedule isn't easy.
WMU Holds On To Beat UConn: Looks Eh Doing It - Hustle Belt
In the madness that is MAC Day, where every MAC school is playing their best unless their name is Toledo, the Western Michigan Broncos swept the UConn Huskies in a two-game set continuing from last year, and now own a 2-1 lead in the overall series. More importantly, the Broncos are 2-2 heading into MAC play, and look like they might be finding everything out. Or not. We'll get to that in a minute.
BobcatAttack.com - For Fans of Ohio University Sports
ATHENS, Ohio – Filling in for an injured Tyler Tettleton, Derrius Vick threw four touchdown passes and led Ohio to an easy 44-10 victory against Norfolk State on Saturday at Peden Stadium, giving the Bobcats their first 4-0 start since 1976. It was decided right before game time that Vick would start in place of Tettleton, suffering from an upper side injury, and he did not disappoint, completing 14 of 20 passes for 199 yards while helping Ohio open up a 34-0 halftime edge.
Northern Illinois 30, Kansas 23 Recap: BCS success at home - Red And Black Attack
The Northern Illinois Huskies deserved this one over the Kansas Jayhawks considering they outgained them 455-329 yardage-wise. It wasn't a perfect game by any means, but the magic was there to win yet another one at Huskie Stadium. It really felt like the 2003 Maryland game all over again.
Kansas Vs. Northern Illinois: Huskies Ride Big 4th Quarter To 30-23 win - Rock Chalk Talk
The Jayhawks were reminded Saturday how tough it can be to get a win on the road. After putting together a solid performance for much of the game, and perhaps even looking like the better team at times, Kansas fell apart down the stretch and lost to the Huskies after giving up 17 unanswered fourth quarter points.
As Expected, Pitt Wins; Now What? - Cardiac Hill
So Pitt beat Gardner-Webb yesterday. I've got to admit, while I expected them to win, 55-10 isn't what I had in mind. I figured the Panthers would win by two, maybe three touchdowns, but to go all 49ers-Bengals on us? Man.
Coastal Carolina Chanticleers vs. Toledo Rockets - Recap - September 22, 2012 - ESPN
The Rockets (3-1) won their third straight after a season-opening 24-17 overtime loss at Arizona. Owens completed 27 of 36 passes, including two to Cordale Scott for touchdowns. Owens' third TD pass was a 43-yarder to Bernard Reedy, one of Reedy's 10 receptions. Scott's second TD reception, a 7-yarder with 4:59 to play, clinched it for Toledo.
Just Dyserts: Miami Game Notes – Maroon Musket – Your Source for UMass Football News and Analysis
The Minutemen lost to the Miami (OH) Redhawks, 27-16, in a game that was even closer than that score indicates. The time of possession was nearly equal, UMass had 471 yards of total offense, and the Minutemen actually seemed comfortable on the field with their opponent.
Bowling Green Lays An Egg At Virginia Tech - Hustle Belt
Look, I know VT is a top-25 quality team, and I was afraid this game was going to be the end-result of a lot of pent-up frustration. I was right, and it was worse than feared. "I just hope this game won't be a 41-7 loss," I told my wife, who is nice enough to humor me weekly about how BG is. She notices how excited I get when Bowling Green is on Actual TV, not just ESPN3 or MACkelodeon.
